Depeche Mode to release live album and concert home video on December 7
Depeche Mode is set to release Songs Of Faith And Devotion: Live, a track-by-track concert version of their chart-topping 1993 Sire Records studio album. The live album, recorded during recent shows in Lievin, Copenhagen, Milan and New Orleans, feature in-concert performances of each album cut including the singles "I Feel You," "Walking In My Shoes," "Condemnation" and their most recent release "One Caress."
Devotional, a concert video captured during their current world tour will also be released in early December by Warner/Reprise Video. Filmed and directed by the band's visual collaborator Anton Corbijn at shows in Barcelona and Lievin, Devotional documents live performances from the current tour including first-ever concert clips of "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy The Silence," hits from the 1990 Violator LP. Two different versions of Devotional will be available -- a 72-minute videotape and a more comprehensive 94-minute laserdisc.
Songs Of Faith And Devotion: Live and Devotional are the first full length live releases from Depeche Mode since 1989's 101 double CD and tour film. Like the current concert, these new audio and video offerings present a harder-edged Depeche Mode, with more performance-based arrangement of their electronic blues and gospel-tinged compositions.
The studio recordings of Songs of Faith And Devotion entered the Billboard Album Chart at Number One in March of 1993, and have sold three million copies worldwide. Their eighteen-month Devotional Tour, which began in Europe last May, is one of the best selling shows of the current season and will wind up in North America with five sold-out shows at the Los Angeles Forum. Depeche Mode are expected to return to North America in the spring of '94, following tour stops in Europe, the Far East, Australia and South Africa.
